Rock Church Senior Pastor & DSC Founder
Miles McPherson is a man radically transformed by God, and the Senior Pastor of the Rock Church in San Diego, one of the largest churches in the United States.
Two years into his pro football career as a defensive back with the San Diego Chargers, Miles was battling a drug problem and living an immoral lifestyle. That's when he gave his life to Jesus Christ, and never looked back. Miles began to work as a Bible teacher, youth pastor and speaker, developing a track record of appealing to diverse audiences, large and small.
McPherson founded The Rock Church in 2000. More than 3,300 attended the first service on Feb. 27, in Montezuma Hall at San Diego State University in what is believed to have been the largest opening service in the nation’s history. The congregation grew quickly. In 2009, the Rock Church was named by Outreach Magazine as one of the country’s fastest growing churches, the Rock currently has more than 12,000 people attend weekly services at its two campuses.
Luis Palau Association President
Luis Palau Association is a Portland, Oregon based ministry that has shared the Good News of Jesus Christ with more than 1 billion people worldwide through Kevin’s father, evangelist Luis Palau. Kevin joined the team in 1985 and began directing the day-to-day operations of the ministry in the late 1990s. Kevin and his younger brother Andrew developed the LPA’s trademark festival approach to proclamation evangelistic events. Under his leadership, the LPA has produced some of the largest Christian events ever staged, including festivals that have drawn crowds from South Florida to South America of up to 1 million people. In 2008, Kevin developed a massive, area-wide outreach called the Season of Service into the festival model. Designed for long-term sustainability, the Season of Service is a collaboration between corporate, civic and church leaders allowing the love of Christ to be displayed through substantial community service efforts. Today, Kevin is nationally recognized as a key leader for sustainable citywide movements that bring civic, government, and church leadership together in unprecedented ways. Microsite + Pastor
Mingo Palacios has a heart for people on the fringes of mainline society. He grew up in San Diego, and majored in Communications and Biblical Studies at San Diego Christian College. Palacios has been a part of the Rock Church since it launched in 2000. He and his team focus on disaffected urban young adults and families, organizing nonconventional events and networks that use the common ground of community and culture to create gatherings that can draw people who are found outside the traditional walls of a church. He currently is pioneering a project within the Rock that marries outreach ministries with the Sunday worship experience via streaming technologies. The mission is to bring the Gospel to people far from the church, both physically and spiritually. Mingo also speaks throughout the year to students and young adults about the incredible love of Jesus and the Hope of the Gospel. He and his wife, Fallon, who also works for the Rock Church, were married in 2006, and have a young son named Bravery.
