Miles McPherson
Rock Church Senior Pastor & DSC Founder
Miles McPherson is a man radically transformed by God, and the Senior Pastor of the Rock Church in San Diego, one of the largest churches in the United States.
Two years into his pro football career as a defensive back with the San Diego Chargers, Miles was battling a drug problem and living an immoral lifestyle. That’s when he gave his life to Jesus Christ, and never looked back. Miles began to work as a Bible teacher, youth pastor and speaker, developing a track record of appealing to diverse audiences, large and small.
McPherson founded The Rock Church in 2000. More than 3,300 attended the first service on Feb. 27, in Montezuma Hall at San Diego State University in what is believed to have been the largest opening service in the nation’s history. The congregation grew quickly. Named by Outreach Magazine as one of the country’s fastest growing churches, the Rock currently has more than 12,000 people attend weekly services at its two campuses.
Under his leadership, the Rock Church committed to making a biblical impact on their community, and decided to do something. By the end of 2011, they had provided over 700,000 volunteer hours and saved an estimated $2 million to the City of San Diego and continue to serve the city through community service projects.
Tommy Moseley
Rock Church Outreach Pastor
Tommy Moseley is focused on establishing Pervasive Hope outside church walls with people from every walk of life. After partying his way through the University of Nebraska, he started to get in trouble with the law and moved to Las Vegas. In 1995, Moseley walked away from crime, drugs and alcohol and moved to San Diego for a fresh start. He met Miles McPherson, founder of the Rock Church in San Diego, and became a pastor overseeing the Rock’s outreach ministries. Moseley also is involved in competitive mixed martial arts. He is a brown belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, and recently won American Nationals. He also is a black belt in Tae Kwon Do. He and his wife have two sons.
